International Agencies

• The World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations' designated health agency, has the goal of helping all people attain the highest levels of health.
  • The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a branch of the WHO, coordinates and conducts research on the causes of cancer worldwide, and publishes a list of substances classified by degree of carcinogenicity.
• Since its inception in 1994, Women's Healthy Environments Network (WHEN) has been educating the general public, media and policy makers to the fact that environmental health is a key determinant of public health.
